Optimizing your trading platform




Firstly ensure you would have a powerful computer as this is a basis of how your platform and other running programs will run.

1. have a dedicated streamxy line or fiber that will ensure stable connectivity

2. Ensure you have adequate memory installed on your system for your daily trading needs

3. Run only necessary items during computer startup, disable those not required. these remain in memory background even though there is no icon in the notification area.

4. Configure your browser by
a. configuring your broker site as trusted site
b. disable all unused or non required add-ons
*tip to only use your browser eg: IE for trading, other like Firefox or Google for browsing and other activities. You could configure IE with the minimum configurations to take advantage

5. Configure your firewall to allow
a. IE as your browser
b. Java & JVM

6. Configure Java to use direct connection, and optimize Java for better performance.

awesome article!!!

computer/internet problems can cost alot of money......please becareful....those who dont have good pc/internet please go upgrade....the cost of upgrade is nothing compare to the problems it may cause u!!!

to speak out some traders count internet and cost of hardware in as costing, so its pretty easy to cover this with your good trades Thumbs Up

you guy got to have second internet service provider as back up. eg me has streamyx and maxis broadband..in case streamyx having problem (which happen perhaps once in month) i still have maxis to browse and trade. it's ok to pay extra eg rm80 a month rather than u miss a profit opportunity say rm2000.

also trading platform need to be configure where all the handy info is there such as expiry, ratio, premium and exercise price.

apart from that, all potential bb and mom need to be added to favourtite such as fav 1 fav 2 etc

sifu max you highlighted important factor, Thumbs Up

"backup" ; have backup for internet connection line and backup laptop/desktop for that urgent trade if failure on main pc.

miss profit nvm leh....sometimes u holding lots of stocks profit position can turn to lost that time jialat lor

handphone shd be next to you.....for prepaid user make sure phone is reloaded and not expired.....the last thing you want to do is seeing your stock drop.....internet dc......cannot call remincer due to no credit can cost thousands depeniding on qty

do a test on the connection quality like system latency, packet loss, etc, i think important cos if packet loss high my platform chart&data hang & when switch between charts like bursa mini dow, hsi, shanghai, australia.... loading wait long time even connection speed is high Handshake

PART II Optimizing your trading platform

backup
-have a second internet connection ready as in
*usb wireless
*phone thethering to your main PC
*have a phone that would allow you to monitor and place online trades


have the numbers to your broker ready pasted on the wall or written
-customer service for platform issues or unlocking accounts
-broker/dealer for that all important phone order if all else fails

Platform configuration for CW
-configure your personal watchlist/favourites to include mom and CW share
-configure the columns to match and display
*expirary
*ratio
*premium
*ex price

for those who dont have this feature on your platform
-old school way of cutting your weekly newspaper from like starbiz and the edge on warrant section for easy reference; this will help you look at one glance ex date and relative information
-have a online warrant calculator to easily calculate that premium

for those who dont have charting you could use chartnexus as an application to be installed for your computer.

Hello all.. sory if i post at wrong section, but may i know which platform r u guys using?

Is there any platform that showing the expiry of warrants date and also mt4 platform that include klse?

Currently i am using chartnexus, maybank platform and also apexetrade for my reference.

u can configure your platform to show it

wa MT4 , must be FX player.

yes i am on chartnexus n apextrade. MT4 for klse not known for the moment. Suggest ECM money for the warrant expirary type.

else you got to do the manual way
